Is God real in your life?

This is a question I've been asking myself daily, and for the most part, my answer has been -- no.

I believe in God, but I can't say that God has a consistent presence in my life. I guess an analogy would be like having a father in north korea. I would obviously believe that my father exists, but since i don't communicate/spend time with him, i can't really say that he has an impact on my life.

In college, apart from STSM, i can't say that i really grew in my love/understanding of God. And for a while, i was like, "God, WHY!? Why do i feel so stagnant and dry?" I read the word consistently, prayed daily, attended church weekly, and tried my best to be involved and plugged in with ministry at KCM.

After going to New York and talking a bit with Amos, i started to kinda figure it out. I guess mproblem was that God was more of an idea to me than an actual living/moving God. I also placed God as a means to an end. God was my meal ticket to heaven. I thought that as long as i read the bible and strayed away from sin, that i was on my merry way to heaven, and God would just be the magic carpet that took me up there when i died. I thought that by being a christian, i escaped the default punishment of hell when i die. But that's not what christianity is about.

The end goal isn't going to heaven. The end goal is being with and finding God.

To be honest, my fuel for reading the word/praying was guilt. every night i sit in bed, and right before i sleep, i reflect on my day and say, "If i lived the entire day doing my own thing, i have to be able to give God these 15 minutes to read the word." Where's the love? I read the bible out of feeling pity for God?? who the hell do i think i am??

I was more dedicated to the motions of being a christian, than i was to loving God. Another analogy would be like having a girlfriend in norcal. I dont think any guy loves driving 300 miles, or talking on the phone/aim for hours at a time. Let me clarify - I dont think any guy(in their right mind) likes doing those things, just to do them. When's the last time you heard of someone driving 6 hours just to drive? or someone who talking to a piece of plastic for no apparent reason? The reason why a guy would do this, is because he loves the person on the other side of the phone, or because he is committed to that girl living hundreds of miles away.

I'm that stupid guy that drives 300 miles, for the sake of driving (and not for the girl).

My commitment to the motions of being a christian was like having an addiction to the petty/useless stuff of a relationship. And in a way, we are in a long-distance relationship with God, because we don't have a chance on earth to spend continuous time with him. Yea, we do get extended periods of time where we leave our comfort zones and spend time dedicated soley to Him (ie. missions/retreats/conferences/etc). but in the broad scope of things, i don't think anyone has a 24/7 direct presence with God, but that's i mean, that's why heaven is going to be so beautiful. Chilling with God 24/7??? hollla. So i guess till then, we just have to keep fighting and wrestling to soak in as much God as we can here on earth.

Sorry to the people who read this whole post. I SUCK at writing. I would rather just do math problems, draw a graph, or take some pictures, but it's kinda hard to convey all my thoughts through those mediums. So hopefully i get better at this writing business.

A Day in the Life of __________.

My Grandpa is a scholar.

That's my Gramps (right) and that's Go.

All he does is read, play GO, and water our grass/plants(even though we have automatic sprinklers). And when i was little, I would always go to my grandparents place and there wasn't much to do. So sometimes i would wander into my grandpa's office and meander through his shelves and cabinets full of books. A third of his books were in korean, and another 1/3 was old encyclopedia-looking books about history or other boring and useless stuff, like woman's rights. But a good amount of books were giant oversized picture/photojournalism type of books that had giant pictures and little captions/comments on each page. I spent alot of time flipping through these kinds of books and my favorite ones were the books filled with pictures of people.

I started taking pictures in my senior year of highschool, but i guess i was always really intrigued and interested in photographs. Especially people photography.

I wish Snsd let me be their official photographer. i call taeyeon.

Nature, architecture, and landscapes are kind of cool to look at too, but after looking at like 15-20 pictures of non-human pictures, it starts to get a little boring. I guess that's why I mostly take pictures of people, because people photography is always so dynamic and really captures the different emotions and special moments that no inanimate object can replicate.

See, if i took a picture of some random tree or a building, it wouldn't make you as happy as seeing these boys steal panda express receipts from the trash to get a free entree.

This picture is kinda cool i guess. But.....

isn't it so much more fun/better/interesting with people in the picture?

with people, every picture kinda turns into a story. A picture IS worth a thousand words. or maybe just a couple hundred.

Anyways one of my favorite picture books at my grandpa's house was this book called, "A Day in the life of The Soviet Union". This book is like a 200 page collection of hundreds of pictures taken in Russia/The Soviet Union on a certain day. The editor of this book, Rick Smolan, invited 100 professional photographers and gave out like 100 cameras to children in Russia, and basically sent these photographers all over the country. After receiving the thousands of pictures, he picks and chooses what he likes the best. And the result is a pretty awesome exhibition of Russia documented from before sunrise until the wee hours of the morning. It's pretty tight.

So i was at work today, and I randomly thought about that book and realized that there was a whole series of these books. And i decided to go on amazon to see how much these books would cost. I know the original price was like 50 dollars per book, but i found a bunch of good quality used ones for like $1-$5!! So i bought like 12 of them. hAhahahha but shipping was still expensive so basically i droped like 100 dollars on these stupid books. Anyways, if you photographers ever need inspiration or just wanna see pictures, come over anytime and we can drink tea and eat cheetos and read books or something.

Or we can eat endless meat fest and fill our arteries with samgyubsal fat.

Beginning of the End. or End of the Beginning?

Yo seniors.

So this is kinda what i wanted to say at Bonfire as a final farewell. But i didnt really get a chance to, so here it is.

I know KCM has played a huge role in your lives, and I know everyone says that college is possibly the best 4 years of your life.
but let me be the one to tell you DON't let KCM/College Life/UCSD be the highlight of your lives. Move on forward to bigger and better things. Meet new people, nurture and expand your professional network, get plugged in to church, spend more time with family, make your own family(hahaha, eventually you will), go accomplish things you wanted to do when you were a little kid. Don't let other people and, more importantly, yourself put a cap on your limits and goals. Dream BIG DREAMS! Be great, but remember to be great for God. I know this all sounds really cliche, but i really believe in this. I don't think God meant for college to be the pinnacle of our lives.

You know in the song, "God of this city - Chris tomlin", it goes, "For greater things have yet to come, and greater things have are still to be done in this city". I believe that God has greater things for you guys as well. So open your eyes for opportunities and stretch yourselves farther than your comfort zones.

Finally, just a quick reminder. In everything you do, give it your all! You know the parable of the servants and the 10/5/1 talents the master distributed? (If you dont heres a link to the parable) God gave you all "talents". Go and use what God gave you, and use your gifts to its full potential. Don't just stick all abilities in the ground and waste your lives. "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might" (ecc. 9:10). John piper's dad reaffirms this point with one of his 15 life lessons, "7. It is a sin to do less than your best. It is wrong to do [merely] well. Word.

Remember us if you ever become famous like mr dukes.

Acupuncture

I EFFED up my ankle last night.

I was playing ball at biola university, and i basically landed on my ankle after shooting a jump shot.

All i heard was "krrrrrch" (thats supposed to be a crunching sound. kinda like a mix between cracking knuckles and chewing on celery). And then after mumbling some unforgivable things and rolling around the floor in pain, i decided to head home.

When i got home, my foot looked like this:

Yes, that is a hardboiled egg inside my ankle.

So i went online and first googled, "ankle sprain vs broken ankle" (i google EVERYTHING)
i read online, that if your ankle breaks and you don't get it treated asap, the bone can start to heal in the wrong places, and the doctor has to rebreak your ankle and set it correctly. sick. i dont know who has it worse, the doctor who has to rebreak the ankle or the patient who has to endure that.

anyways, after being convinced that my ankle wasnt broken, i googled "ankle sprain treatment"
Every site basically had the same advice, which was "RICE":
Rest
Ice
Compress
Eleveation

However on one site, someone had a testimony on the wondrous effects of acupuncture.

I sprained my ankle really bad before, and acupuncture seemed to expedite the healing process, i decided to get acupuncture. My dad's shopping center also has an acupuncturist's office so i just decided to give that place a shot.

When i arrived there, i found out that the doctors were all professors at the acupuncture college in LA and anaheim. So after getting poked with the needles, i asked the doctor, "How does acupuncture work?"

He responded in broken english that the human body has energy flowing in "energy channels/lines" up and down the body. He responded that different parts of the body were connected, while other parts of the body are not on the same line of the body. He said that the goal of acupuncture is to channel the areas of good energy (the undamaged parts of the body) to go to the damaged part of the body. This explains why the doctor stuck needles in other parts of my body than the sprained ankle.

i dont know if i completely believe what he had to say, but i mean people have been doing this for 4000+ years, and my ankle does seem to be getting exponentially better, from a 15 minute session of needle therapy. So i guess i'm a believer. Thank you acupuncture. and thank you God for the healing.

ps. i was walking around crutches at a niko niko near my house, and these 3 girls came up to me and asked if they could pray for my foot. I found out that one of them goes to UCSD and is involved with the origins club on campus. God is cool.

Barnes and Noble

Just got back from camping trip.

I am tired.

Twas a fun trip.

Anyways, my brother is REALLY into rubicks cubes. Yes. Plural. Cubes. He has like 8. He has like 3 traditional 3x3 cubes. Two 5x5 cubes, a rubicks cube keychain, a 2x2 cube, a rubicks pyramid, and some other wierdly shaped movable blocks.

But he still wasn't able to find a legit 4x4 cube, so i took him down to the Orange barnes and noble, which was was the closest place that had the cube in stock. We bought it, and within 1 hour of playing with it, he decided to break open the cube to lubricate the revolving mechanism and ended up snapping off a piece of the cube.

So i had to go and exchange the cube for him, so i went back to barnes and noble to get another one. I figured i was already at barnes and noble, so i just decided to kill a couple hours there. I skimmed through a couple magazines and headed to the book shelves in the main area of the store. I passed through the "Business" section of the store and was pretty shocked to find that more than half of the Business section was about twitter/facebook/myspace/google/blogs/etc. The internet is really changing the world. Our generation basically had the internet readily available since we were in jr high.

But, in a way the internet is a fairly new invention, and its still evolving and enhancing constantly. The way businesses are going to be run in the future is going to rely heavily on the internet, especially social networking sites. The world is changing, and unless we evolve, we die.

I also thought about facebook and aim. I always associated these things with teenagers or young young adults. Do you think people will still regularly be on aim in their thirties/forties? It's weird. Our parents think that aim and facebook are time-wasters and childish. But when we become parents, will our perception of these social networking tools change, or will we still be writing on each others walls when we're 50? dang imagine when people are like fifty, and they have like 30,000 tagged pictures. Hopefully andrewparkphotography will be still be alive and kicking then.

It's Not Your Fault

Good Will Hunting is forsure in the top 5 movies of all time.

After watching this movie, i want to go read the encyclopedia, visit boston, go to a bar, and do math problems on a chalkboard.

I don't know why this movie appeals to me so much. A genius hoodlum from southie, mixed with robin williams and severe anger/authority issue just do it for me i guess.

If you haven't seen it either:
a) borrow it from blockbuster for $1.99

c) come to my house and watch it.

I don't see an intelligent, confident man... I see a cocky, scared shitless kid. But you're a genius Will. No one denies that. No one could possibly understand the depths of you. But you presume to know everything about me because you saw a painting of mine, and you ripped my fucking life apart. You're an orphan right?

So we went on a overnighter boat trip, and when i woke up at like 3am, i saw the boat crew using this REALLLY bright light. They would drop this light in the water and a bunch of baby squid would come near the light and then someone would lower the net and catch all the squid which would be used as our bait.

Anyways, this is kinda how we should be God. FOLLOW THE LIGHT. except when we get swept up, we'll be going to heaven, and not into a fish like jonah.

hahaah i like getting random objects and tying it back to some christian meaning/story. test me, get any random object and ill make up something.

I like sneakers. I probably like sneakers more than i like you.

I think I've owned over 200 different pairs of nikes during high school. And my parents never really supported my addiction, so i had to buy and sell shoes like a sneaker stock broker, in order to make enough money to add to my collection. Sometimes i would buy like 9 pairs of the same shoe in popular sizes(9.5-11) and flip them for profit. Other times i would find a pair of shoes for a good deal and sell them for like 8x the price i paid. I think my record was buying a pair of shoes for $30, and after cleaning them, i flipped them the next day for 230 dollars. cameUP.

I remember selling my first pair of shoes, when i was like 15, at DunkXchange in brea. I sold a pair of sendhelps for $145 dollars, and i only paid 80 dollars for those shoes. I remember thinking, "Dang, i just hustled that guy......YEA!!!!"

Anyways, i know most people dont like to read words, but just look at pictures, so here are pictures i found of some of my sheembaals.

hahaha, i even sold tshirts for profit. The most lucrative deals came from buying tshirts in bulk from a store in artesia(cerritos) called, PREMIUM LABEL. Their shirts ranged anywhere from 15-20 dollars, but i sold alot of them online for 80 dollars a pop. Why would anyone pay 80 dollars for a tshirt?? honestly, i dont know. I guess having shirts of naked girls tickles some people's fancy.

Rothem hosts Saturday Prayer and Volleyball every week in Anaheim.

It's a good time to just pray, reflect, and then volleyball it up.

I am finding more assurance and comfort in prayer as im growing up.

Yesterday i got into a car accident on the 5N as i was going back home. 3 cars were involved, and sadly, yes, it was my fault. F. Thankfully no one was hurt, and all 3 cars were still drivable. I was scared that the other parties involved would try to pull shady business and claim that their neck/back is sore in order to receive some compensation. But, there is nothing i can really do now. I am really thankful that the accident wasn't too bad, cause it could have been MUCH worse, especially since we were on the freeway and i had 3 passengers. God has my back. Luckily the insurance is gona take care of everything, but hopefully my insurance doesn't get too expensive. My grandma told me last night "Never worry, just pray". I guess with old yonsei, comes wisdom.

p.s. please pray that everything falls through smoothly

God as a computer programmer.

When i see an object, I see some sort of creator/designer behind the object.

For example, look at the computer/iphone/ipad/blackberry/whatever-you're-using-to-view-this.
On the keyboard you see an array of meticulously arranged letters/number/and symbols. With just one click of the "power" button, your computer gets a breathe of life and begins to run all the necessary processes. By looking and thinking about how a computer works, there can be no doubt that there has to be someone who thought out the design for building the computer sitting in front of you.

In the same way, that's how i know that a Creator exists. I can see it in nature. In the trees, clouds, mountains, rain, snow. These things couldn't have just came from..nothing? But one thing that truly makes me believe in a creator, is the human body.

Our bodies are craze.
- in one hour, your heart works hard enough to produce the energy to raise almost 1 ton weight 1 yard off the ground.
-in 1 sq inch of skin, you have 4 yards of nerve fiber, 1300 nerve cells, 100 sweat glands, and 3 million cells.
-our bodies can heal and replenish itself. we make a new skeleton every 3 months, and we get new skin every month.

There are other CRAZYY things our body can do, but, to me, the most amazing thing about humans are our brain. The ability to think and reason is amazing. That's how i know that we didn't just spontaneously come to life. Just like how i put AP|Photography on my pictures, God puts his watermark on his creations too.

I'm a computer science minor, and programming SIMPLE projects can take HOURS AND HOURS. one big thing that computer scientists are always trying to improve is artificial intelligence. Basically creating "The Terminator". A computer that can think and reason for itself. Personally i dont think a computer will ever be able to reach that stage. anyways, after wasting my life in lab this week, i sorta began to imagine God as this crazy computer progammer that designed the human race on his macbook.

I wish God could tutor me in compsci.

Life is meaningless yo.

I dont know if this is winter quarter blues, or just a quater-life crisis, but i'm not a happy camper. I think I'm just chasing after fleeting things and realizing i'm stupid for having those goals. or maybe i'm just having a surge of estrogen levels after eating like a pound of edamame from work.

Freshmen year there was a pretty big deal about the whole myers brigg personality test. I remember cadengo and amos memorized everyones personality type(ie estj, intj, yadada), and they would categorize everyone and their actions by their personality types. "You WOULD say that, you ESTJ." haha anyways, when i took the test freshmen year i was an ESTJ. I was pretty confident that those letters accurately depicted who i was. Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging.

But, this weekend i just wanted to take the test again, cause i heard some people's personality type could change. and i ended up being an esfj...ESFJ???! I felt like i was less of a man. F?? Feeler? I had pride believing that i only let logic and clear objective thinking to motivate my actions..but i realized that instead my actions and thoughts were being motivated by my feelings and emotions?? SICK. but the more i thought about it and after reading the esfj personality page, im coming more to peace about crossing over.

"ESFJs are people persons - they love people. They are warmly interested in others... They value security and stability...They have a strong need to be liked, and to be in control."

I definitely became a people person in college. And i think it's bad, cause now i rely on human interaction in order to be content with life. But the more i seek out human interaction the more i realize that my need for people will never be satisfied. I think other people struggle with this too, just by looking at the amount of people who are constantly on facebook/aim.( i mean honestly, i know you guys get giddy seeing that notification icon on the bottom right of your screen.) Humans thirst for the approval/interaction of others.

The world is a sad place. People are always reaching and chasing for the next temporary pleasure and satisfaction, only to be distracted by a newer and better things to go for. A better internship, a better car, better friends, a newer hobby. and after spending a whole lifetime amassing wealth, dreams, and goals...you die.

The world needs Jesus.

I need Jesus.

In order to come up, you need to own/start your own business.

Being an employee sucks. Not only do you have to do menial and tedious work day in and day out, but all the hard work and effort you put into your job is basically going to benefit your boss. I mean sure you'll get verbal praise on a job well done, or you may even get lucky enough to earn an insignificant raise on your already lowly salary, so that your boss will make your 4 years at a nationally ranked university seem worthwhile.

Every person's job is pretty significant to them. After finishing school, most people spend the majority of their adult lives at their workplace. Work is many times the center of people's conversations, and some individuals go as far as letting their lives be defined by their career. So while each individual person holds their job as something important or meaningful, to the employers, employees are just another cost.

When someone starts a business, lets say a sushi restaurant, do you think the owner is really thinking, "Hey, i want to hire a sushi chef, so that I can provide for him a meaningful job and a ways for him to provide for himself and his family." ? I doubttt it. Basically, the owner just needs a way for the fresh fish to come from the fish delivery trucks to the chopsticks of his paying customers. So employers just hire somebody to bring that service. Alongside rent, utilites, replacing outdated equipment, and buying new supplies, employees are just another cut to the boss's profit margin.

And im not saying that business owners/bosses are cruel and incompassionate monsters driven soley to make a buck, but i do believe that the primary reason for people to own or start a business is to make some monies.

Anyways my point is.......who wants to start a business with me? loll

I mean there has been some crazy inventions that has made millions of dollars. I heard of this guy who sold pet rocks. He packaged it in a cardboard house, filled with grass and other amenities that a pet rock needs. He also put in like a pet rock owner's guide, that said jiral like, "this pet will never disobey you. this pet never needs to be fed, and never needs to be cleaned. this pet will never die on you. All it needs is your love and it will love you right back. " wow, this guy was either an autistic 5th grade PE teacher or simply a genius. Since he sold over five million pet rocks in a 6 month period, making him a multimillionaire, he's a genius in my book.

And another invention that sold like crez was the snuggie. I remember when i first saw that thing, i was gona throw my dog through the tv screen. "A Blanket with sleeves"?????? I think something like that was already invented. its called a jacket. Anyways, i thought the snuggie would be ultimate fail, but it sold millions already. MILLIONS! how..in..the...world. I mean i guess they got lucky. Cause i really believe that alot of people bought the snuggie, not out of pure functionality, but because it was so strange/wierd/cultish that they just bought it for 14.99 at walmart. Its more of a novelty item i guess? i dont think anyone expects to be taken seriously if they're "wearing" a blanet. So in a way it's like the perfect gift that would make people laugh, which is probably why i think every white elephant/gift exchange this year included a snuggie. and you know that make snuggies for DOGS NOW?!

As i get older, i'm appreciating food more and more.

When i was in elementary school, I was hyperactive. There were too many things for me to do (ie. ride bikes, go swimming, read books, beat up my sister, go to chuckecheese). And since there were too many fun things to do, eating food was the LAST thing on my mind. I remember i didn't even like wasting time to go to the restroom, so i would try to hold my poo/pee until my large intestine was about to implode like a dying star.

I don't know if every asian culture heavily encourages children to eat alot, but i know that korean parents love kids that eat alot, or maybe they just dislike kids who eat a little and waste food. So as i was going into the 6th grade, i just remember trying to be less picky with food and trying to eat larger quantities of food to appease my parents. I clearly remember that the first thing i changed was not to remove all the vegetables from hamburgers. Like if someone gave me a whopper/bigmac when i was little, i would take like 5 minutes removing any foreign substance from the burger except the meat, buns, and ketchup. So it was a big step for me to eat all the other crap they put into hamburgers like lettuce and tomatoes.

long story short, i began to eat more and more until i got fat and self conscious. I remember i wore like sz 32 anchor blue jeans in 8th grade. HOlyy i was fat. Luckily i got stressed out about life/my future in my sophomore year of highschool and lost weight.

wow. that was a long tangent. anyways now that im in college, i appreciate food more. If you live at home, your parents usually provide 2-3 square meals complete with banchan and fruit for dessert. but it's not uncommon for me to eat a box of cereal for dinner in college. So i guess i just began to appreciate cooked(not microwaved) food more and more.

Another thing good about food is that it can be an event itself. whether it be cooking, finding a new spot to eat at, or eating at spots you always go to. i saw princess and the frog, which was btw one of the worst disney movies to come out in a while (everything from the plot to the music was mediocre at best). In the movie, the dad of the main character said, "You know the thing about good food – it brings people together.” Word.

i dont know why i wrote this post. but i told myself i would try to blog more.

This upcoming decade is going to be a crazzyyyy transitional period for most of us. We are going to finish college, (hopefully) get a job, and maybe get married?? By the end of the 20ten's we are going to be 30. wthell. So let's all enjoy our last years of college and enjoy our freedom, before we are thrown into the cruel and cold "real world".

I will try my best to update this blog throughout the year, but we'll see how that goes. I guess that's as far as my new year's resolution goes.

I'm learning alot. The more i reflect on my life and the more i talk to other people, i am seeing and remembering things that i thought about before but didnt have a chance to think about in the past couple years.

For example, in the big picture, how miniscule is our time on earth. It it quite literally a speck in terms of eternal life. and it's funny how I get so caught up in trivial things. Like grades, career, and my future. The more and more i think about all this stuff, i realize that God is calling me to put my trust in him. Romans 8:28 - and we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

If you love God, God will take care of you. That doesn't mean that He will immediately gratify your every wish, but He will look out for you. Everyday i feel like I come to peace with this, but it seems that every morning i wake up, im fighting the same fight to feel at peace, to know that God is in control of my life.

But no matter what happens, God is good...All the TIME. whether or not you're doing well in school, being accused of something you didnt do, having your harddrive crash and losing all your pictures and documents, or anything else. and yes my harddrive crashed and Andrew Park Photography pictures are all gone. except on facebook. but its okay, i just gota start over and refill my new harddrive(courtesy of apple care) with new pictures of beautiful people.

Hello,

These days i'm going through a "depression" phase. Alot of things feel like they are piling up on me, and i guess its breaking me down little by little. One thing that has REALLY been pestering me is, as many of you know, my issues with a (false) allegation of academic dishonesty.

Pretty much, i was just going over my notes right before the midterm, and i stuck the notes under my chair when the test started. After like 20-30 minutes i went to ask a TA a question, and after getting my question answered, my TA requested that i sit in the back row instead of schooching all the way back in my original crowded row. At the end of the 1 hour 30 min test, the teacher was going up the aisles to pick up the last tests, when she saw notes under my original seat. She thought the kid next to me was using them, but he denied that the notes were his. So she asked whose notes were on the ground, and i told her they were mine. She then proceeded to report me to the academic integrity office.

thankfully, amos(the genius) came over and helped me on my "case" for like 5 hours. We made some legitimate arguments, but we realized that if the teacher forgets some facts on the hearing date, and unintentionally or intenionally fabricates the story (i.e. "i saw andrew looking at his notes") then im pretty much screwed.

But through all this chaos and unnecessary crap, i think God is really showing me things. Growing up i was always the kid that always pushed the limit until my mom or dad had to spank me. And i think i'm like the same way with God. I don't listen to Him, until something bad happens to me, and then i turn to God.

First, i think God is telling me to reevaluate what's important in my life. I think because my academics and my career were someting i have confidence and security in, God wanted me to rely more on him instead of putting my trust in my own abilities. It is true that God wants us to do our best in school, but i think when we make School/grades/job/ an idol, it makes God not happy.

Secondly, i'm learning a bit more about how beautiful grace is. I was thinking about my hearing(academic dishonesty) and i was imagining how crappy i would feel if the board deemed me guilty. But after, i thought about when God is going to judge us. Imagine you standing in front of God, and He's like, "Andrew, you have committed this sin, this sin......etc., and the wages of sin is death". I think that would feel like 999999999999999999 to the 99999th power worse. Being condemned to eternal darkness, hopelessness, depression, pain, suffering, and loneliness. But there is good news. REALLY good news. Jesus covers all the crap we did. EVERYTHING. there's no middle ground. You either have all your charges of sin dropped, or you have them still claiming your life.

Honestly i probably heard about salvation like 600 times, but for some reason, when i really thought about what Jesus did on the cross it made me realize how lucky i was. and i think it took something like what happened to me to realize how beautiful the cross is.

I suck at writing. I'm prolly going to read this later and realize that this post is really incoherent, but hopefully Jesus shines through this post. And just to clarify, im not literally depressed, its just a feeling of being lost and broken, which usually turns out to be a good thing in the end. but the process of being lost and broken sucks. anyways 6 more weeks of school left! including finals!

Mammoth

(Almost) every year my family makes a trip to mammoth to go snowboarding. Usually we go with a couple other families from church, but this year, due to the time restraints, our family decided to go up by ourselves.

When we went up mammoth was getting dumped with on snow. The good thing was there was fresh powder constantly, but it was like 3 degrees. Literally. Even with gloves, my hands were numb and yea. Bottom Line: It was F'ing cold.

Even with the weather everything was going well. San Diego CCM was at mammoth too, so i met up some people and we rode together, but the drive back home was the worst. It took 25 hours to get home from mammoth. TWENTY-FIVE HOURS. I could have tied my shoes, written a novel, made soondooboo, and saved the world in 25 hours.

Instead we drove down from mammoth and arrived in lancaster at 5pm. We waited by the freeway from 5pm to 6:30am the next day, because the freeway was closed due to snow. THEN they opened the freeway for like 5 miles, then they closed it again on us and opened it again at like noon. Then we drove for 3 hours and finally arrived at our beloved home and greeted our dog that was held prisoner in our freezing garage for like 4 days. Praise the Lord.

Hello Everybody,

After finishing finals, I decided to make a photoblog, cause facebook F's up the quality of my pictures. Anyways, I'll try posting pics like at least once a week.

This is Cambo2k8.

We taped and numbered our luggage so we wouldn't end up in cambodia with a lost bag or lost riddler.

We Took Korean Air and although we were flying economy class, every seat had its own screen and a plentiful array of movies/shows/news reports/games.

Our bathroom at Life University where we lived and taught. Cambodia doesn't have the traditional showers, most bathrooms are makeshift shower rooms and giant trash-cans hold water which is used for all hygienic use (flushing toilet, shower, washing hand, brushing teeth, and washing face). Sometimes 10 guys would have to share one trash-can of water for 4-5 days.

Computer Class. So Life University was fortunate enough to have a computer lab. The computer lab consisted of 3 long tables with holes punched in them so that the monitors could fit in the desks. Half the computers were broken so 3-4 kids had to share a computer at a time. So when the students were waiting to get on the computers, our team would talk and get to the know the students. As we talked with the kids everyday we got to know them better and we got to share stories of how God was moving in our lives.

Bentaproum- a poor village a good distance away from the university where we taught. This village had a barter system where the villagers would trade goods directly for other goods instead of using currency. This is where we probably faced a language barrier the most, but we still communicated with them through our energy and actions.

We slept over at the bengtaproum village and when i woke up at 6 am, this is what i saw.
